Well it was 8 months ago when my perfect bundle of joy was placed in my arms...his little eyes looking up at me lovingly, I knew instantly that I was to carry through my decision to breastfeed him.

I didn't have the easiest time, but I persevered and can honestly say that I have never experienced anything more wonderful than seeing my son grow through my efforts alone. The comfort he received from being on the breast was immense and the bond we have now is second to none. Many woman loose weight whilst breastfeeding...well not me, I was recommended the herbal tablets Fenugreek to help my milk production. (which was never overly plentiful.) There I was religiously taking 6 tablets a day..only to find out a few months later, that the main reason for taking them was to help people put on weight! Oh well, it didn't stop me...my son was far to important to put myself first. I stopped breastfeeding him at six months, and feel so envious when I see people breastfeeding babies.

Even so, I am proud for how long I did feed him as it was a struggle at times. I am now waiting to train to become a local breastfeed support worker, as I believe that the support I received meant my son had the best start in life possible and I want to help an support other new mums and their breastfeeding babies.

Hannah - my superpower - I made milk ; )
